If you've taken the time to develop and plan your custom home, hire a builder you trust, and begin purchasing materials and everything else needed to go from concept to reality, it's worth noting these tips on making sure that your home never goes out of style. Creating a home and space that will remain classic and chic, requires a focus on simplicity where it's called for and adding personal touches where it's affordable. Keeping in mind the floors, built-ins, and sticking to a classic kitchen design will help keep your home feeling timeless. Needless to say, narrowing in on trendy designs and items will not help your cause and may be something you regret later on. As experienced builders, we've seen our fair share of trends come and go and can help you select materials, floor plans, and concepts to make your investment last.

When you're working with a home builder on a new custom home, you're often dealing with the builder and his or her subcontractor. Everything from the original floor plans to the size and depth of the Master bath, you will be speaking with the builder to communicate your vision and needs and to the subcontractor to communicate the execution. Who you won't come into much contact with are the construction workers and other laborers on the project. But these individuals are the backbone of the operation. Recent findings note that the cost and availability of labor is the top challenge homebuilders expect to face this year. As builders, we can say that one of the crucial elements of maintaining a good quality business is to create partnerships with local vendors and laborers in which trust and reliability are key. When you've managed to build a certain level of loyalty when issues like this labor shortage arise, you can rest easy knowing that you may not be as short behind the scenes as predicted.
We've got another custom home in the works and we wanted to share it with you. The latest Moffitt Built project is a 3,000 square foot home on a prime golf course lot in the Drumm Farms subdivision located in Independence, MO. This home has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a first floor Master suite. Additionally, the home has a lower level walkout and a wall of windows facing the golf course to add to the spectacular views from the rest of the home. The plans and site are fantastic and we are incredibly excited to share the progress of the home as it moves ahead in the coming months. Below is a first look at the view from the back of the home. Stay tuned for further updates!
