But, it looks like the ranch has made a resurgence. Many builders prefer to build two-story homes due to spacial limitations with the lot. Building a two-story home takes less space and may offer more home, however, buyers are seeking large lots with a single-story home. Competition for ranch homes like this in the market place are causing bidding wars and prices to skyrocket. As the cost of land has increased, larger lots are harder to find and single-story homes, even harder. This article from Realtor.com details the trend and breaks down the demand by age group, showing that as age increases, so does the desire for a single-story home. Creating a home and space that will remain classic and chic, requires a focus on simplicity where it's called for and adding personal touches where it's affordable. Needless to say, narrowing in on trendy designs and items will not help your cause and may be something you regret later on. When you're working with a home builder on a new custom home, you're often dealing with the builder and his or her subcontractor. Everything from the original floor plans to the size and depth of the Master bath, you will be speaking with the builder to communicate your vision and needs and to the subcontractor to communicate the execution. Who you won't come into much contact with are the construction workers and other laborers on the project. But these individuals are the backbone of the operation. Recent findings note that the cost and availability of labor is the top challenge homebuilders expect to face this year. As builders, we can say that one of the crucial elements of maintaining a good quality business is to create partnerships with local vendors and laborers in which trust and reliability are key. When you've managed to build a certain level of loyalty when issues like this labor shortage arise, you can rest easy knowing that you may not be as short behind the scenes as predicted.

When you're headed to a showing, one of the first elements of a prospective home that you encounter is the driveway. Often, this paved pathway is the first impression of the property for buyers. Before you even enter the home, you're met with a country-style gravel driveway, a fancy cobblestone driveway, a newly-tarred black driveway, or a cracked and sunken driveway. Which of these would give you the better impression of a home? Sometimes, all of us are so worried about the curb appeal, the interior, and the stain of the wood floors, that the driveway can take a backseat. As a seller, you should keep this in mind prior to listing your home to ensure that potential buyers are given a proper first impression.
Often when building a new home, rooms meant for entertaining are the ones with high priority. The living room, the dining room, the Master, Guest room, and foyers are given a lot of thought, largely because those are the areas where you expect to spend a majority of your time or hope to make a great impression on your guests. The kitchen seems to be at the core of daily familial and household activities and is most often where family time is spent. That being said, one might give the plans for the kitchen extra thought when looking to buy or build a new home. This article details some of the best kitchens for families.
